I truly appreciate hearing from
you and am happy to answer questions regarding my dad,
my life and my career. Please submit your questions
here
and I'll answer them as soon as I can.
I've been hard at work writing my memoir over the past
year and apologize for not answering questions more
promptly. If you can just bear with me for a bit
longer, I will answer your questions and get them posted
within the next few weeks. Thanks in advance for
your understanding. Previously answered questions
appear below.
I do not have a specific question,
but I just wanted to let you know how much i loved your
fathers music. Though I am only 21 I have listened to
his music since I was born. My father has a gambling
supplies store in las vegas and he sells a lot of memorobilia,
so everytime he gets a new shipment of anything that
has to do with your father I am the first to go through
it and take my pick. I know you get these letters a
lot but, I just wanted to say how much love his music.
Thank you for your time,
Andrea Maria Fabrizio
Hi Andrea,
I receive emails from fans aged 9 to 90 and I appreciate
every one of
them. I'm happy to know that you enjoy Dad's music.
Deana
Hello Deana,
We are planning a cross
country trip. Our first stop will be Steubenville. Can
you let us know of all the Dean Martin places to go?
We are
big fans!
Frank Frabasile
Hello Frank,
Have a great vacation and I suggest you visit the following
internet sites:

Boyhood Footsteps
Although the home where Dean was born is no longer standing,
several places that played key roles in his boyhood
life can be seen when you visit Steubenville. Dean grew
up in the South-end neighborhood, and the site of his
home (a) is a lot at 319 Sixth Street. This was also
the location of his father's barber shop. Around the
corner is St. Anthony's Church (b), where Dino was baptized.
Dean was educated at Grant School (c) on South Fourth
Street. On the North end of downtown is Wells School
(d), formerly Wells High School, where Dean attended
ninth and tenth grade. One block away is Naple's Spaghetti
House (e), one of Dean's favorite places for Italian
food and which hosted Dean's friends and family for
a dinner during
his visit to Steubenville in 1950. Steps leading to
what was once the Walkers Café (f) can be seen
from Washington Street. Dean Martin liked to hang out
here, and he entertained the patrons with his singing.
The Spot Bar (g) on South Fourth Street is the last
existing bar where Dino went with his pals. He used
to play dice in the back room.
The Mansion
Museum (h) of the Jefferson County Historical Association
on Franklin Avenue displays some Dean Martin items in
the Celebrity Room. In the Wedding Room on the second
floor is a wedding dress that was handmade by Dino's
mother.
The building
that now houses Gertrude Lee Candies was once Dean's
parents' last residence (i) before he moved them to
Los Angeles.
The Dean
Martin Mural (j), painted by Robert Dever in 1998, celebrates
the memory of this local favorite. Route 7 has been
named Dean Martin Boulevard (k). In the Gazebo Park
at Route 7 and North Fourth Street is a State Historical
Marker (l) that was dedicated by Ohio Governor Bob Taft.
The plaque commemorates June 7 - Dean Martin's birthday
- as Dean Martin Day, an official State of Ohio holiday.
Hello Deana,
I have not read much about your sisters except to hear
about Claudia's passing and was so very sorry at hearing
that news. Will you have stories about Claudia and Gail
and also Craig in your new book? I have preordered the
book and I am looking forward to reading it. I have
been a fan of your Dad's since 1952. Among my fondest
memories is
your dad kissing me (1977) at the Saber Room during
a performance with Frank Sinatra. He was such a dear
man to appreciate his fans. SOMEDAY, I will make it
to Stuebenville. In the meantime I light candles for
him at Christmas and on his birthday. We, all my family,
adored him and miss him terribly. You are one sweet
daughter to work so hard keeping his memory alive. Bless
you.
Carol Jordan
Hi Carol,
This is one of the sweetest letters I have received.
Thank you for you kind words.
I am happy to say there are many wonderful stories about
all my brothers and sisters in my new book, "Memories
Are Made Of This." I know you will enjoy it. Thanks
for sharing your memories of Dad and I hope someday
you will make it to the Dean Martin Festival. Thanks
for lighting the candles.
Deana

Thanks for your
email. I'm glad you like my website and thanks for being
a fan of Dad. I know you will enjoy my book, 'Memories
Are Made Of This'.
Deana
Deana---I have always
been a big fan of Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra. I always
enjoyed watching your dad`s TV show. The episode in
which the Martin family and the Sinatra family are on---could
you tell me how I can get a copy of that tape?
Linda Case
Hi Linda,
That was the Christmas
show and I had a lot of fun singing with Dad, Uncle
Frank and Tina. I am happy to say that we are working
on releasing it in the near future. Keep an eye on my
web site and I will post a notice when it is going to
be available.
Deana
Dear Deana,
How are you? I just wanted to let you know that I am
a really big fan of your father's ever since I was a
little boy of 5 or 6 years old. As I was growing up
I watched your father's show with my parents. They never
missed a single week. When we would go somewhere in
the car my parents played your fathers music on 8 track
tapes. and at home we played your dad's records. I personally
own 4 of your Fathers' CD's my favorite is the latest
one I got it's Dino the Essential Dean Martin. It has
many wonderful songs many I haven't heard in years.
I have to tell you I loved the story you wrote in the
liner notes about attending your father's recording
session. What a thrill that must have been. Thank You
for sharing that story with us, your fathers fans.
Sincerely Steve Tamplin Ivins, UTAH
Hi Steve,
I am glad you are
enjoying Dad's newest release, 'Dino the Essential Dean
Martin'. I love it too. I'm happy to hear you liked
my liner notes and I enjoyed telling the story. Wait
until you read my book 'Memories Are Made Of This'.
Sorry to say that I don't know where to get a copy of
the video you requested.

Deana
No question...just a note. I want to tell you how much
I appreciate your work in preserving your father's legacy.
As a fan of your dad, FS, Sammy, Tony Bennett, etc...the
music has been part of my life as long as I can remember.
I have in the last 10 years learned more about your
father and his music and his humor. To me the funniest
human being I have ever heard. I cherish every chance
I can listen to him or all of them together. I have
been in Iraq for the
past 7 months, and working in the Green Zone for 2 weeks
now (on loan). I have found a fellow northerner from
NJ who is a fan as well...so we have spent the last
2 weeks every day singing "Ain't That a Kick in
the Head"...just wanted to let you know your dad
is here and he's keeping me and the rest of us company.
God Bless
Anthony Grisanti
Buffalo, NY...and Baghdad, Iraq
Dear Anthony,
Thank you for your
sweet letter. I am glad to hear that Dad is a comfort
to your pallies. Keep up the great work and know that
I am supporting you 100%. Keep singing and God bless.
Deana
Hi Deana,
Which was your dad's favorite movie role? Which was
his least favorite?
Tony Martinez
Hi Tony,
This is a very
difficult question to answer as there are so many that
I truly love. I can say that two of my favorite roles
were when Dad played, Dude in 'Rio Bravo' and Michael
Whiteacre in 'The Young Lions'.
Deana
I've read an uncorrected
proof of your book...
I have been a fan since
age 4 (i'm 43 almost). I have loved your dad forever.
I've read every book ever.
This is the best book I
have ever read. You really not only knew him, you KNEW
him. It is a privilege to read this. Thank you SO much
for writing this!!...
Kimmy Fuller
Hi Kimmy,
Thank you for
your kind words. I have worked diligently for the last
three years writing "Memories Are Made Of This'
and I am very proud of the final product. I have made
quite a number of changes since the uncorrected proof
and I know you will be happy with final version. Also,
on November 9th, when the book is released, you will
be happy to know that I am including 16 pages of my
personal photographs in the book
Deana
Hello, My Mom and I are huge fans of Dean Martin. We were
wondering where we could find some of Dean's movies and
some tapings of his variety show. I am only 18, but I
am already a huge Dino fan. Any
help you could give would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You and God Bless,
Jonathan Johnson
Hello Jonathan,
I am glad to hear
that you and your mom are Dean Martin fans. My father's
movies are available where ever DVD's and VHS movies
are sold. It's very easy to find them for sale online.
You could check The Dean Martin Fan Center: http://www.deanmartinfancenter.com.
Deana
Hi Deana,
My question is this, I know your father had a younger
brother. What ever became of him? I can find no information
on him or his children. Are you still in contact with
your cousins? Hope to hear from you. Thanks.
Randy Rayeburn
Hi Randy,
My Father had an
older brother named Guglielmo (William) Crocetti, known
to us as Uncle Bill. He passed away a number of years
ago and I am in touch with his son Guy.
Deana
Hello Deana !!!
Thank you so deeply for this chance to ask you about
your family.
You see, I just turned 36 and began listening to your
father's music last summer.
I haven't even seen any movies yet but plan to.
My beloved Aunt was a bobbysoxer (is that the right
word) back in the 50's and 60's and still listens to
Dean and Frank...
The other week I had the
radio on my favorite jazz station and heard a new version
of Dean's song "Sway". I think the DJ said
the singer's name was Micheal (forget the last name).
I was wondering how you feel about other singers covering
your Dad's work.
Thank you again for doing this website.
I have so much yet to learn.
Sincerely,
Sharon E. Snyder
By the way, I only live
a few hours west of Steubenville. I am planning a pilgrimage
there, hopefully next year. When is the festival set
for 2005?
Blessings to you and yours, Deana.
Hi Sharon,
You're in for
a treat when you watch Dad's movies. He's terrific.
As for new singers covering Dad's songs, they have been
doing it for years and it's a pleasure. Hope to see
you at the festival in 2005. You'll have a lot of fun.
Deana
Hi Deana,
It's Sue for NY. I just met Ernie Barry, does a stand-up
Dean Martin. He said he is good friends with you and
John. It was great talking with him tonight. We had
alot of fun singing with him. He mentioned the San Gennaro
feast coming up. Please keep me posted about it. Will
try to go. Also how did your eye surgery go?
My son CARMINE is still in Iraq.Ii do hear from him
every so often. It was great seeing you and John again
this past June. Please let me know when you come to
NY. I would love for you to come visit Roy and I. Stay
well. Hello to John and family.
K eep in touch.
Sue Guluzzi
Hi Sue,
It's great to hear
from you. Please send my love to Carmine and we are
all praying for his safe return. I'm happy to hear that
you've met Ernie. He is very talented and a lot of fun.
Yes, I will be involved with the San Gennaro Feast in
Los Angeles again this year, and the surgery on my left
eye went perfectly. Thanks for asking. All the best
to you and Roy, and John says hi.
Deana
Your dad had a very
cool easy style on the stage and was very funny. Did
he act the same way at home?
Alex
Hello Alex,
Absolutely, he
was just as funny at home as when you watched him perform.
Deana
I am forty seven years
old, I used to watch your dad on tv with my dad in the
sixtys, As I grew older I was a big fan of the Beatles
and still am, But as I remember my youth, I truly am
a big fan of your father, I just wanted to let you know
that and also I pray that his memory will be eternal,
My Question is this, Is there gonna be a DVD Collection
of him singing his best songs.
Sincerely
Jimmy Sackllah
Hi Jimmy,
We are not working
on anything at the moment, but it's a wonderful idea.
I'll work on it.
