I truly appreciate hearing from
you and am happy to answer questions regarding my dad,
my life and my career. Please submit your questions
here
and I'll answer them as soon as I can.
I've been hard at work writing my memoir over the past
year and apologize for not answering questions more
promptly. If you can just bear with me for a bit
longer, I will answer your questions and get them posted
within the next few weeks. Thanks in advance for
your understanding. Previously answered questions
appear below.
Dear Deana- this is the second time I have written you cause in many ways I feel you are the connection to all the great times I had enjoying your dads career. As a local saloon singer in the New Orleans area, your dad was my idol for many years. Every day I think about Dino and enjoy his re-released CDs. My question- did your dad sing live on his TV show or lip-sync to pre recorded material. Either way- he was tops in my book and my world has been a little more solemn knowing he is not around anymore. I know he smiles on us from above. God bless you and yours-
Chris
Hi Chris,
My father always sang live, with an orchestra, Les Brown and his Band of Renown or with his piano player Ken Lane.

Hi Deana,
The first time I heard your Dad's Music was when my husband played a Christmas CD with some of his music on it. From then on I was hooked. I am 29 years old and my music collection is nothing but your Dad and the Rat Pack! I was wondering if you knew if there was a poster of your Dad out anywhere from his newest Album "Dino the essential Dean Martin?" I would really love a poster size copy of that picture!
My best to you,
Lauri McGowan
Hi Lauri,
I'm happy to hear you enjoy Dad's music. As for the poster size copy of the cover of "Dino the essential Dean Martin", you might try contacting Capitol Records. By the way, I love the cover and enjoyed writing the liner notes. I hope you had a chance to read them. Good luck on finding the poster and please let us know how you fare.
Deana
Hello, Deana-
I was recently very fortunate to have the opportunity to purchase an advance order copy of your memoir, Memories Are Made of This. I wanted to let you know how very much I enjoyed reading the book.
It was wonderfully written, straight-forward and honest, just as Jerry Lewis indicated in the Forward. On a personal note, I work for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and appreciate the special bond that Mr. Lewis and your dad shared. A photograph of their 1976 Telethon reunion hangs in my office!
Not only do I greatly enjoy the amazing body of work that your dad provided for us, but I especially have tremendous admiration for him and for the kind of man that he was. In your book, as well as in Ricci's book, which I also own, it is so heartwarming to read stories that convey the great love that your dad had for his family and friends.
Thank you to you, Ricci, your family members and others such as Greg Garrison and Lee Hale, who have done so much to keep your dad's memory alive. With the lack of true television entertainment and music today, I can't tell you how very much I enjoy my videos and tapes of your dad's performances, television shows, movies and music. He truly was, and remains, a treasure!
Lastly, thank you so much for sharing the wonderful Pasta Fagioli recipe. I collect special recipes and I will truly enjoy having this one!
Should I be able to attend the Dean Martin weekend in Ohio next June, I hope to have the opportunity to personally say hello to you!
Best wishes,
J.H.
Dear J.H.,
What a great letter. Thank you for your kind words regarding my book. It was my goal, as I say in the book, "To, for the first time, set the record straight about my family." "Memories Are Made Of This" will be in bookstores on November 9th, and there are numerous additions to the final version. Plus, you will find 16 pages of photographs that I hope you will enjoy.
We are all very grateful for your work with the Muscular Dystrophy Association. I know this is a very busy time of the year, preparing for the Telethon. I am very proud to say that I also have a very special bond with Jerry Lewis and the picture that you refer to is also one of my favorites...a gift from Jerry.
A note concerning the Pasta Fagioli recipe: For best results, be sure you serve it hot with grated Parmesan or Romano cheese.
Looking forward to meeting you next year at the Dean Martin Festival.

Hi Deana, I’m originally from Steubenville, moved to Las Vegas a year ago. As a child Thursday night was a big night, The Dean Martin Show, my grandmother was born in Italy came to Pittsburgh, then to Steubenville , the whole family were such fans of your father. I’m 48 now and passing the dean martin tradition down to my children, my 6 year old girl makes me put a dean martin CD in as soon as she gets in the car, she knows some songs by hart, even at 6, your dad has a fan, I was fortunate to see your dad in Las Vegas in the early 90's at Bally’s, I’m so glad I got to see him perform before he retired, he's always going to be my favorite singer and it looks like my daughters also, her favorite songs are Houston and Volare, you signed a poster for me in Steubenville at the festival a couple years ago, I still have it hanging in my house in Vegas ,thanks,
Mike Ribar
Hi Mike,
It's great to hear from you. Thank you for sharing the story about your daughter. I'm thrilled to hear she's a Dean Martin fan at 6 years old. Please tell her that I love Houston and Volare too. I hope you have the opportunity to attend another Dean Martin Festival, and I'd be happy to sign another poster for you and your children.
Deana
No question.
I was born a fan of your fathers.
Just thought you might find it interesting that my father was born
6/7/18. My mother's birthday is on Christmas day.
I didn’t know this till quite recently. Now I really feel a connection.
Can't wait to read your book.
Sincerely,
Jean
Hello Jean,
Thank you for your email and I can't wait for you to read my book
either. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

I was wondering if you had a relationship with your mom and will you
be mentioning her in your memoir? Also I did not know that your
sister Claudia had passed away, I am so sorry for your loss.
Thank you,
Mary Vasquez
P. S. My dad and I loved your father's movies and his music. He was
the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Mary,
Yes I did, and I answer all of your questions in great detail in

Claudia. She is truly missed.
